Now that the sun is (hopefully!) starting to arrive in time for the summer months, beauty blogger and 2015 communications and english studies graduate Cinmi Walker introduces us to six must-have items.

Who’s excited for summer? I’m so blessed to live a few minutes walk from the seafront here in sunny Pompey, but it’s also a massive pain for my skin! The heat could clog up our pores and our skin could get more sensitive, and that’s why I am sharing with you what I think everyone should have in their bathroom/ office drawers.

If you would like to feature as a guest blogger, please email us with your name, the course you studied and the topics you’re interested in writing about.

Chilly’s water bottle

Staying hydrated is important no matter when. In summer, it’s essential to have a water bottle on hand for all occasions - whether you are walking to the train station for work, or sunbathing at the beach. Chilly’s bottles come in different sizes and colours. In fact, I purchased my first bottle after being recommended by a colleague and never looked back. They keep water cold for 24 hours, and hot for 12. They are also leak-proof. You can tell my love for these by me and my husband’s growing collection!

Bottle of Vichy Mineral 89

Vichy - Mineral 89

This serum is a miracle in a bottle. The big selling point is that it is super lightweight, easily absorbed and will not leave a heavy and dull feeling during summer. Use it on your face to hydrate, plump and fortify your skin.

I had a withdrawal period as I was testing another product and I felt that my skin was less pumped and duller than when I was using this day and night.

Tub of bubblegum lip scrub

Lush - Bubblegum lip scrub

Lips tend to crack easily in the heat and when you go in and out of air-conditioned places. To help, use a lip scrub before applying your favourite lip balm. This delicious lip balm by Lush can be licked away after use! Please check ingredients for any allegories before doing so.

Hand holding bottle of Mario Badescu spray

Mario Badescu - Aloe, cucumber & green tea spray

Whenever my skin feels dull and tired, I use this facial spray as a ‘pick-me-up’. It also helps to cool skin down, which is perfect after being out in the sun. Did I mention it contains aloe vera too? I love it so much, I keep a spare bottle in my office drawers!

Bottle of Glow-Go-Nuts mask

Origins - Glow-Co-Nuts mask

I must admit, this mask does not smell flattering. However, this whipped cream-like mask reboots your skin and deeply moisturises. It can be left on/ used overnight once to twice a week. It can help with dryness after sunbathing or being in air-conditioned places. I even use this on my husband whenever needed!

Bottles of rose tonic

Pixi Beauty - Rose tonic

Pixi’s rose tonic is my go-to toner after washing my face, though you can use it through out the day. This gentle and gorgeous smelling toner helps wipe out impurities and also moisturises. Not to mention it helps to calm your skin thus reducing redness (think of the heat waves)!
