Samantha Bumford crowned Miss Dorset 2017
Samantha Bumford, alumna and current student again at the University of Portsmouth, has recently been crowned Miss Dorset 2017.
Inspired by her mother, alumna and also a teacher, Samantha discovered she wanted to follow in her footsteps.
I did my first work experience at Broadstone First School where mum used to teach, I went in to help her and fell in love with the school and the idea of teaching primary school children so signed up for the Foundation Degree. Four years on, I am now about to start my final year undertaking BA (Hons) Education and Training Studies and complete my dissertation.
Samantha also works with Woofability which are Assistance Dogs for Disabled People, Children with Autism, Downs-syndrome and Epilepsy.
I have been working with the charity Woofability for over nine years and Portsmouth University have been so supportive of this, so a massive thank you to Chris Neanon, Anna Craig, Sandra Smith, Helga Stittrich-Lyons, Sarah Barton and everyone at Portsmouth University!
