Chart success for alumnus Paddy Taylor
Outselling James Bay, Jake Bugg and Foy Vance, Portsmouth alumnus Paddy Taylor stormed the iTunes chart earlier this year when he broke into the top 10 singer songwriter charts.
Paddy, real name Jody, graduated from Electrical Engineering in 2009 from the University of Portsmouth and has served in the Royal Navy since 1997 as a Chief Petty Officer. Opening his own record label Mariner Records in March 2016, Paddy writes and records his own music and released his successful single ‘Gypsy Woman’ earlier this year which also entered the iTunes chart at number 35 between Ed Sheeran and Tom Odell.
With other gigs planned for August and September 2016, Paddy has previously played at the 2015 Gibraltar Music Festival where he opened for James Bay, Kaiser Chiefs and Kings of Leon.
