40 Year Geography reunion
Christine Gaukroger (Historical Studies 1973-1976) attended a 40 year Geography reunion with her flat mates who were geographers of the same year. Here is her reflection on the reunion:
Is it really forty years when Portsmouth was a Poly and for every girl student there were 8 boys?
Back in the day, Quentin was banned from Mercantile House for wearing his roller skates, the Sound barrier echoed with Bowie’s “ Sailors fighting in the dance halls” ( how true in Pompey!) and the Mary Rose was still buried under the Solent.
I shared a flat with geography students
Dick and Edna ran the Kings
Wavecrest provided our fish and chips
Kashmir our curry
5th Hants our HSB.
We were sorted!
RIP India Arms- gone but not forgotten.
No Nero’s, No Joanna’s, No dancing!
Swap it for all that’s new – I don’t think so.
And yes I did get a degree….
